Welcome to Albatross Flavour. My name is Tony Green and I live and work in Sydney Australia. I spend a lot of my time working on UNIX, Puppet, macOS and have become a productivity junkie (my drug of choice is, of course, GTD).

I talk about UNIX, automation, TV, movies, macOS, productivity hacking and random stuff that comes up. Many moons ago I was a UNIX systems administrator, I’ve done engineering, architecture and management but my heart has always been in operations.

I now work as an infrastructure automation consultant focusing on Linux and Puppet.

I have a personal life too, but it’s just that.

There are some people who don’t know where Albatross Flavour comes from, so here’s a little hint.

I came up with the name for the site while I was over in California for work in 2012. One of the many places in LA that I wanted to visit was the Hollywood Bowl, purely because of the legendary Python show performed there.

You can walk around the Bowl if there isn’t a show on and I couldn’t help myself, trying to imagine what it would have been like in 1980, watching these genius’s at work. It was less than three years later that they broke up, seldom to perform together again, certainly not at this level in my opion.

This was my first ever exposure to Python, back in the late-80s and it stayed with me.

I can’t help wonder how many other people have stood in the Bowl, while no one was watching, and just shouted “ALBATROSS”, maybe I was the only one.
